ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - Students were evacuated from Northpoint Elementary School Friday morning after people inside the building reported smelling smoke, according to the Clay Fire Department.
The smell was reported coming from a conference room at 9:22 a.m.
According to the fire marshal, a staff member pulled the fire alarm.
Protocol was followed and all students and staff made it safely out of the building, reports said.
There was no fire or smoke at the school, according to reports.
Students were able to reenter the building after about an hour.
The smell of smoke was due to a failed motor, Northpoint Principal Lorraine White said.
