Students learn about firefighting

CLAY TOWNSHIP, Ind. -- Area students learned what it takes to be a firefighter at special camp hosted by the Clay Township Fire Department.

Twenty-one students ages 10 to 13 signed up for the hands-on camp.

Students learned about the ladder truck and got to cool off with its 300 gallons of water.

"It's really fun. They get to come to the fire house, see all the fire trucks and see all the tools and equipment and they'll get a chance to do some hands on fun. Play with some fire extinguishers, pull some hose, and see what firefighters do, not only on fires, but on medical calls and car accidents and learn some safety tips also," said firefighter Eric Kraft, who is also a former camper.

This is the eighth year for the camp.
