Sturgis Police have arrested a suspect on homicide charges

STURGIS, Mich. – Sturgis Police and Fire were dispatched for reports of a shooting victim on Friday evening just after 5:30 p.m. Police found a 33-year-old suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Once officers arrived in the 500 block of N. Prospect Street, they found the victim that had multiple gunshot wounds and quickly transported them to Sturgis Hospital.

Unfortunately, the victim died from injuries while at the hospital.

Within the same day, Sturgis Police arrested a 35-year-old resident on homicide charges relating to the shooting earlier.

The suspect was then taken to St. Joseph County Jail.

The investigation is still open and ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Sturgis Police Department or St. Joseph County Central Dispatch.
