Summer drought affecting ethanol plants

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- South Bend's ethanol plant will stay open despite the hard times they are facing.

ABC 57 News sat down with the plant's president off camera after hearing rumors of the plant closing.

He said the plant is facing the same concerns as every other plant in the nation. Because of the drought this past summer, corn production is down which is driving up the cost of the commodity.

He would not comment on whether or not anyone could face layoffs.
