ELKHART, Ind. -- A fun way to begin the summer over at the Tolson Center for Community Excellence this afternoon, as they partnered with the Elkhart Police Department to put on their 'Summer Kick-off Event'.
The celebration included free food, a live DJ, games for the kids, and even a meet and greet with local police officers, that allowed visitors to learn more about the men and women who serve our community.
Another big part of the kickoff, bike training, as they look to keep kids safe on the streets this summer.
"Basically, we're here to prevent any injuries. Do some preventative work, make sure that kids who are out there riding their bikes are doing it safely and having fun doing it," stated Wesley Kuric.
Experts remind us, make sure that you're wearing a helmet every time you ride your bike, and if you don't have one, the Elkhart County Health Department can provide you with one.
