Superintendent postpones South Bend school bus route changes

The South Bend Community School Corporation decided to postpone the new school bus routes until next fall, Superintendent Todd Cummings announced Monday before the school board meeting.

“Parents’ opinions matter, and we have heard from many of them that changing bus routes at this point in the school year would be more disruptive than helpful, so I have decided to wait to implement these changes until August,” Cummings said.

The new routes were scheduled to begin on February 3. The new bus routes will now be effective August 2020.

The change in bus schedules is designed to reduce the amount of time students spend on buses and streamline the number of routes.
