Suspect arrested in connection with shooting on Kenwood Avenue

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Officials announced a suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting that wounded a man in South Bend, November 5.

The South Bend Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit took over the initial investigation, processed evidence, and identified 31-year-old Jeffrey Sheppard as a suspect.

On November 5, South Bend Police were dispatched to the 200 block of North Falcon Street on the report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located a male victim with several apparent gunshot wounds. He was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Through an investigation, it was determined the shooting occurred in the 2400 block of Kenwood Avenue.

Sheppard was charged with battery by means of a deadly weapon, a level five felony, on Thursday, November 16.

Sheppard also had a felony warrant connected to an unrelated case.

Sheppard was arrested by the South Bend Police Department and is currently being held at the St. Joseph County Jail.
