Suspect detained in Mishawaka High School threat investigation

MISHAWAKA, Ind. – A suspect has been identified and students can safely return to classes following an investigation into a threat concerning Mishawaka High School, Superintendent of Schools Wayne Barker announced in a letter to families on Monday.

The threat caused school officials to cancel school on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of last week, before students went on winter break.

In the letter to families, Barker said the School City of Mishawaka cannot give details about the investigation but that police identified a suspect who was cooperative and has been detained.

The Mishawaka Police Department said it is safe to resume classes and all activities.

Students will return to class on January 6.
