Judge sets trial date for man charged in Delphi murders

DELPHI, Ind.- The man charged with the murders of two teenage girls in Delphi is scheduled to stand trial in early January of 2024.

Richard Allen appeared in court today for the murders of teenaged girls Abby Williams and Libby German six years ago.

He was arrested last October.

Judge Fran Gull set a trial date of Jan. 8-26 in 2024.

According to WRTV-TV in Indianapolis the judge also heard several different arguments, including one about whether to move Allen to a different facility, and another about the use of key ballistic evidence in the trial.

Gull decided that the discussion about the ballistic evidence would be continued at a later date.

A decision about moving Allen was also put on hold.

He is currently being held in maximum security at the Westville Correctional Facility.

His attorneys want him moved because they say his physical and mental health are in jeopardy at the current location.
