Suspect in Saleh's Market double murder pleads guilty

ELKHART, Ind. -- A suspect in the double murder of two men at the Saleh's Market in Elkhart pleaded guilty Monday morning to two counts of murder.


Richard Gross, 23, pleaded guilty to the murders of 20-year old Pawan Singh and 55-year old Jagtar Singh Bhatti, who were killed September 5, 2013 during an attempted armed robbery at the market.

Singh and Bhatti were employees of the store at the corner of Middlebury and Madison streets in Elkhart.


Gross pleaded guilty without specified terms. The judge can impose any sentence allowed by law. He faces a term of up to 130 years in prison.


He will be sentenced March 14, 2014.


Kevin Lorenzo Moore, 28, also faces two counts of murder in this case.


Moore's trial is scheduled for February 3, 2014.
