Suspect allegedly leads police on vehicle and foot chase in Berrien County

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. – A suspect was arrested after fleeing from police by vehicle and on foot in the early hours of Dec. 8.

The suspect, Darrien Amar Connor, 21, of Illinois, was spotted traveling at a high speed eastbound on I-94 near US-12 in a black Volkswagen Tiguan around 12:34 a.m.

Connor failed to stop after a Berrien County deputy began pursuing him, and the pursuit ended when Connor began driving erratically and at a high speed while traveling north on Red Arrow Highway.

Shortly after, another Berrien County deputy saw the suspect’s vehicle turn into a driveway in the 3500 block of Lakeshore Drive in St. Joseph Township.

The suspect then abandoned his car and fled on foot.

A trooper with the Michigan State Police located Connor in the 2700 block of West Garden Lane.

He was arrested without incident and a loaded firearm was found in his car.

Connor is being held in the Berrien County Jail for the following charges:

  • Fleeing & Eluding Police
  • Carrying Concealed Weapon
  • Resisting & Obstructing Officer
  • Felony Firearm
  • No Valid Operator’s License
  • Improper Registration
  • Fugitive – Warrant out of Cook County Illinois.
