Suspected grenade found along riverbank in Elkhart, police say

ELKHART, Ind.—A suspected grenade was found along the riverbank in Elkhart on Saturday, according to the Elkhart Police Department.

Around 2 p.m. on Saturday, City of Elkhart employees were cleaning along the riverbank near the 100 block of Goshen Avenue.

Employees located an “old, very corroded object,” police said.

The Bomb Disposal Unit was called out as the object was suspected of being a grenade, police said.

Officials with the Bomb Unit disposed of the object properly.
