Suspects arrested after allegedly stealing purse

Three people were arrested and charged with robbery for allegedly stealing a woman's purse in the parking lot of the Walmart in Mishawaka.

On November 23, Mishawaka Police were called to the Walmart on Indian Ridge Boulevard regarding a theft.

The victim told police she was putting shopping bags in her car when a Pontiac pulled up behind her, two men got out of the vehicle and attempted to pull her purse off her shoulder.

The victim said she tried to keep them from taking her purse, but when she held it tighter, they yanked the purse causing her to injure her hand and back.
The men got back into the Pontiac and drove away.

The victim got the license plate number for the vehicle and gave it to police.

The vehicle was located a short time later and was stopped in South Bend.

The occupants were identified as the driver, Zanair Curtis, and passengers Shonta Henderson, Tra Butler and a 15-year-old juvenile, police said.

All of the occupants were taken to the police station for questioning.

Butler told police he and the juvenile stole the victim's purse, pulled out her ID and credit cards and discarded the purse.

Police said they located the victim's cards inside the vehicle.

Butler, Curtis and Henderson were all charged with robbery.
