ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – A domestic situation turned into an armed barricade situation, which prompted SWAT to respond on Saturday in South Bend.
Police first received a call of a domestic situation around 4:45 p.m. on the 700 block of North Johnson Street in South Bend.
One person left the home, refusing medical treatment, police said. According to officers, there was another person inside the home.
“The negotiating team was activated around 6:30, Shortly after that our SWAT team was activated, chemical irritants were used as well as distraction devices,” Christine Karsten, Media Liaison of the South Bend Police Department, said.
The man involved in the incident was taken to the hospital for treatment. No other details on the man involved have been released.
