Symetra Tour tees off in South Bend

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Symetra Tour, Road to the LPGA, teed off at Blackthorn Golf Course in South Bend on Friday.

It's the world's largest international development tour.

It's basically the minor leagues for golfer who want to go pro.

"So these girls are honing their skills and their game to the next level, which is the LPGA Tour. So the stars of tomorrow are in South Bend this weekend," said Tim Firestone, the General Manager of Blackthorn Golf Course.

This year, the girls are hitting the links with a few goals in mind: their future in the LPGA, $150,000 purse, and a good cause to boot.

This year, the Four Winds Casino is sponsoring the outing and will donate all of the proceeds to the Memorial Children's Hospital.
