ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- Students haven’t been in their classroom since schools closed in response to the coronavirus pandemic. Today was the last day of school for many students in the Michiana area.
Kristina Lawrence, a language arts teacher at Schmucker Middle School in Mishawaka has been teaching for six years. She mentioned that although last days of school are always emotional for her, this year was exceptionally difficult
Lawrence was forced to say her goodbyes to through zoom call with her class. She said that all 61 of her students were on the call today. They played games and talked about their favorite memories of the year.
“I found myself getting a little emotional in my zoom meeting with the kids today. And I just reminded my kids that this isn’t a goodbye, this is just a see you later,” Lawrence said. “So, it’s different, that’s for sure. But, we are doing the best we can.”
