More wet weather arriving later tonight, but sunnier skies after
NILES, Mich. –
A 16-year-old boy in Niles Township is now recovering after Wednesday’s strong winds sent a tree limb flying right into his back and cracked his hip.
“I’ve never really witnessed something like this in my life,” said Kain McCord. “It’s just crazy.”
The storm left broken branches around and on top of McCord’s home.
He says he heard the wind Wednesday night and stepped outside to grab his scooter. It was when he tried to get back inside that he says the winds picked up.
“As I went to walk in the door the tree branch, one of these tree branches came and hit me in the back. My friend Doc in there, he just pulled me in,” said McCord.
He says he was stuck on the floor of the home while an ambulance was called.
“On a scale of 1 to 10 it was a 10. It hurt,” he said. “I just wanted to know if my hip was ok because I thought it was broke or something like that because I couldn’t really move.”
That same gust of wind ripped off their front door, shattering the glass and throwing the door into their yard.
