Teenager arrested for criminal recklessness

ELKHART, Ind. – A teenager was arrested on Tuesday after an alleged incident that took place on October 31, the Elkhart Police Department reported.

At 10:28 a.m. on November 1, an officer was called to the lobby of the Elkhart City Police Department for a knifing report.

The victim said that on October 31, he was working on his vehicle outside when he noticed the suspect walking by.

The victim confronted the juvenile about staying away, based on previous experiences, according to reports.

The suspect then allegedly threw a glass bottle in the victim’s direction, reports said.

The bottle broke as it hit the ground but did not hit the victim, reports said.

The victim said that he then got into his vehicle with two other people and came across the suspect in a vehicle near the Sherman Street bridge.

The suspect got out of the vehicle and, according to the victim, pulled out a knife and took a swipe at the victim through the driver’s side window, according to reports.

The victim reported no injuries from the incident.

After investigating further, the 17-year-old suspect was arrested for criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon.
