LA PORTE, Ind. -- A 17-year-old was killed in a single vehicle crash in Willis Township Saturday morning, according to the La Porte County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies were dispatched shortly before 6:00 a.m. Saturday to a crash in the 2600 north Block of County Road 700 East in Wills Township.
When first responders arrived, they found the driver of the Chrysler minivan unresponsive.
The driver was pronounced dead shortly after by the La Porte County Coroner's Office.
After investigating, Sheriff's Deputies determined the vehicle had been traveling south on CR 700 when the driver left the west side of the road for an unknown reason.
Once off the roadway the mini-van struck a stump, became airborne, and hit and unknown number of trees before coming to a complete stop.
The driver was identified as 17-year-old Aidan Short of Mill Creek.
Short had no passengers in the vehicle.
Deputies determined alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
