Texting while driving leads to two vehicle crash in Michigan

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – A semi related two vehicle crash left drivers with minor injuries on US 131 Friday.

Michigan State Police said the crash happened just after 1:30 p.m. on US 131 northbound, near D Avenue.

A semi struck a Chevrolet Malibu when it re-entered the roadway after a shoulder stop.

MSP investigation showed the driver of the semi allegedly was texting when the crash happened.

The driver was cited for texting while driving.

Both drivers were taken to hospitals to be treated for minor injuries.

MSP wants to remind drivers to exercise caution while driving always and especially over the holiday weekend.
