The Chief scoops up #1spot for best ice cream in Indiana

GOSHEN, Ind. -- Hoosiers have spoken.

A Goshen ice cream shop has the best ice cream in the state of Indiana.

The state held a contest this week on its website, and The Chief, off of Lincoln Ave. got the most votes.

Jan and Lowell Vanderveer manage the icecream shop. They didn't even realize they had won, until we stopped by on Friday afternoon.

"It makes us feel good and it makes us feel like we've did something right but the product speaks for itself, and everybody likes ice cream," Jan Vanderveer, a co-worker.

The Chief opened 50 years ago.

The South Side Soda Shop in Goshen, Rocket Science Ice Cream in Nappanee, and the Bonnie and Clyde Soda Shop in Bristol also made the top 10.
