ELKHART, Ind. -- The Great Cardboard Race returned to Elkhart today, Aug. 16, to promote and fundraise for the financial stability, health, and education in Elkhart County.
This year's theme was ' Light Camera Row', with boats themed to famous cinema like "Titanic", "Ghost Busters", and "Talladega Nights".
"It's a great way to, again, do fundraising, by having fun and building community. And we do that by having the different companies in our area build cardboard only boats," stated President and CEO of Crossroads United Way Bill Purcell.
Purcell continues, "Again, it's something, I think, unique and fun. It's the biggest cardboard boat race, I think, in the Midwest, again, we can see there's a couple 1000 people come out here.
There were 72 boats in total that showed up to race in this year's event, that was held by Crossroads United Way.
