Groundbreaking for phase two of ’The Cascade’
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Jewish Federation of Saint Joseph Valley held a celebration this evening, lighting the candle on the 5th day of Hanukkah.
The event, normally held outside, had to be moved inside the Morris Performing Arts Center due to the rain.
South Bend Mayor James Mueller joined in on the festivities, lighting one of the candles himself and embracing South Bend's diverse community.
"It's important, like I said, to embrace our diversity and show that we're all in this together. And so, whether there are wars or other things going on around the world here in South Bend, we're together. We're united, and we're moving forward together," stated Mueller.
The menorah has a candle lit each day of Hanukkah, with all eight branches being illuminated over the festival.
