NOW: The Lerner Theatre welcomes back live entertainment with Freaky Friday!

ELKHART, Ind. -- Premier Arts is presenting Disney’s Freaky Friday at the Lerner Theatre in Elkhart. The classic mother-daughter story, first made its movie debut in 1976, but you may be more familiar with the modern 2000s remake starring Lindsay Lohan.

Now, it is being adapted for the Lerner stage in its most exciting form yet! A musical!

The theatre is implementing COVID precautions such as mask wearing which is required for the entire show. Seating arrangements are distanced and organized by pods. Because of this, ticket sales must be ordered in groups of 2 or 4. A total of 625 people will be in allowed in the audience which is roughly 30% of the historic theatre’s capacity. Even so, the theatre hoping to provide those in attendance with some sense of normalcy.

“So obviously, things are going to look a little bit different because of the COVID steps we have and mitigation steps in place, but just the community and the response we have had to bring back live entertainment has just been incredible, so we want people to come and feel a sense of normalcy while still feeling safe,” says Michelle Frank, Executive Director of The Lerner Theatre.

After having to shut down in March 2020 and then again in September, the historic venue is thrilled to provide the community with the joys of live entertainment once again. And for the performers, it really is the glue that unites so many.

“I really do feel like arts is what connects the community, on many different levels, the arts thrive in downtown and we are so lucky to have this beautiful facility to house so many wonderful and artistic things that come through. And to get people in this building from different blocks of life many come from not Elkhart, to see all of these people come through and come for one cause that is one cause, I just think it’s the greatest gift. We are so lucky to have it here,” says Ashlea Harrington, performer and vocal director.

The performances are May 7th through the 9th. Further ticket information can be found here.
