Third teen sentenced in armed robbery case
GOSHEN, Ind. – A third teenager involved in an armed robbery last year in Elkhart has been sentenced.
The robbery happened at 1st Source Bank on West Lexington Ave almost one year ago.
According to Elkhart Police, two suspects came into the bank and allegedly displayed handguns while another suspect waited in the lobby of the bank and fourth was parked in a car nearby.
The two suspects with guns took cash and fled to the parked vehicle.
Police say witnesses were able to provide a description of the suspect vehicle, which police saw leaving the scene.
When officers tried to stop the vehicle, it fled to the 400 block of West Lexington Avenue where all four suspects got out and ran on foot.
Officers said the suspects were Maurice Mitchell, 17, Jacaree Glover, 16, Xavier Halliburton, 17, and one other unnamed suspect.
Maurice Mitchell, now 18, entered a guilty plea and was charged with armed robbery, a level 3 felony.
Mitchell was sentenced Thursday to a total of 23 years in prison, with seven years suspended.
Glover entered a guilty plea and was sentenced to 8 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections and four years probation.
Halliburton also entered a guilty plea and was sentenced to 10 years, three years in prison, three years on work release or home detention, and four years probation.
