This is how your senators voted on the national debt limit deal

Congress has approved a deal to raise the government's borrowing limit and prevent a potentially catastrophic default on this country's debt repayments.

The senate overwhelmingly approved it last night, after the House had passed it the night before.

Here is how the senators from Michigan and Indiana voted.

In Michigan, Senators Gary Peters and Debbie Stabenow, both Democrats, voted in favor of the deal.

The two senators from Indiana had different votes.

Senator Todd Young voted yes, but Senator Mike Braun voted against the bill.

Mike Braun had this to say about his decision to vote against it.

“This deal makes our current bloated spending levels the new baseline going forward, setting us further down the path to financial ruin. We need deep spending cuts, and Congress shouldn’t get paid until we deliver a real budget that seriously addresses our massive debt."

The bill now heads to Joe Biden's desk where he is expected to sign it.
