SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- More than 1,000 degrees were awarded at IU South Bend's commencement ceremony Tuesday evening.
Indiana University overall awarded a record 21,000 degrees in the state of Indiana.
The recipients included two sets of twins, a 75-year-old graduate and a 67-year-old receiving her degree 50 years to the day after receiving her high school diploma.
Director of Communications and Marketing, Ken Baierl said, “Tomorrow they’ll be getting up, going to work, raising their families, being entrepreneurs and helping the quality of life here. That’s the beauty of IU South Bend.” He adds, “Tonight is that celebration and then tomorrow they’ll be helping the community.”
