Threat reported to Dowagiac Union Schools Tuesday night

CASS COUNTY, Mich. – Dowagiac Union Schools were made aware of a threat made by a student via social media Tuesday night, Superintendent Jonathan Whan announced in a letter to families.

At 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, school officials learned that a middle school student made alarming comments to another student through social media on Tuesday night.

A police officer went to the home of the student in question and the student was not allowed to ride the bus or go to school.

Since actions were taken before school started, administrators determined the school was in a low threat assessment and students were safe to attend classes, Whan wrote.

Students can submit anonymous tips about threatening behavior using OK2SAY.
