Three charged in connection with shooting on Jefferson Tuesday morning
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- South Bend Police have released the names of the men who have been arrested in connection with a shooting that happened on Jefferson Tuesday morning.
Two officers were in the area around 10:30 a.m. when they heard gunshots and saw two people running from the scene.
Those two people were identified as 19-year-old Jaylen Green and 26-year-old Daalerhay Gray.
The person who was shot in the shoulder and taken by car to Memorial Hospital was identified as 19-year-old Treveon Smith.
Police said all three admitted to firing a gun.
Green and Gray were taken into custody that morning. Smith was taken into custody after he was released from the hospital.
Green was charged with carrying a handgun without a license, a class A misdemeanor, and resisting law enforcement, a class A misdemeanor. He posted bond and has been released.
Gray was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, a level 4 felony, and resisting law enforcement, a class A misdemeanor. He is scheduled to be arraigned Friday afternoon.
Smith was charged with carrying a handgun without a license, a class A misdemeanor, and carrying a handgun without a license, a level 5 felony. He is scheduled to be arraigned Friday afternoon.
