Three people arrested in Westville vehicle thefts

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind.—Three people have been arrested in connection with vehicle thefts on February 11.

Around 2:45 a.m. on Monday, deputies with the La Porte County Sheriff were dispatched to the 100 block of Spruce Street regarding suspicious activity.

Deputies were told that a dark colored SUV had possibly dropped off two subjects who may have been entering vehicles in the area, according to reports.

At 3:04 a.m., a deputy initiated a traffic stop at CR 300 South on an SUV matching that description.

The driver, 19-year-old Quinn Daley, admitted to the deputy that he had dropped off two people in the area who were stealing from vehicles, according to police documents.

At 3:19 a.m., a second person, 19-year-old Austen Wood, was located by deputies in the 300 block of Ash Parkway.

According to reports, deputies continued searching for a third person by “following footprints in the freshly fallen snow.”

At 4:06 a.m., a third person, 24-year-old Dominic Jones, was located by police in the area of US 421 and SR 2.

Daley, Wood and Jones were arrested and taken to La Porte County Jail. All three are charged with theft. Wood and Jones were also each charged with unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle.

Police also determined that Jones is a wanted person for a failure to appear arrest warrant through the St. Joseph Police Department.

According to police, 65 stolen article, $82, and $5.82 in loose change were recovered. The recovered stolen property is estimated to be worth $2,600.
