CASS COUNTY, Mich.—Three people were injured after a vehicle crashed into a fallen tree in the road, the Cass County Sheriff’s Department said Thursday.

Police responded to the crash near the intersection of Decatur Road and Kelsey Lake around 2:48 a.m.

A 23-year-old South Bend resident, Rachel Weamer, was traveling south on Decatur when her vehicle collided with a tree that had fallen into the road, police said.

The driver sustained minor injuries in the crash and her two passengers, both also South Bend residents, sustained injuries in the crash. The backseat passenger was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to police.

Both passengers were taken to the hospital for treatment and their conditions are unknown.

According to police, alcohol and speed do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
