Three people injured in crash on Michigan Street, FACT investigating

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Fatal Crash Team is investigating a crash that happened on Michigan Street Monday evening and injured three people.

South Bend Police were called to Michigan Street just south of Sherwood Avenue around 9:15 p.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed a Honda Fit was traveling south on Michigan when it crossed into the northbound lane and collided nearly head on with a Chrysler 200 headed northbound, police said.

The Chrysler 200 then collided with a Chevy Impala in the southbound lanes, police said.

The driver of the Honda Fit was extricated from his vehicle and was transported to hospital in critical condition.

Both the driver and passenger in the Chrysler 200 were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Chevy Impala was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
