SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A $5,000 donation was given to three teachers at Madison Steam Academy on Thursday to help supply them with new tools in their classrooms.
Donated by Indiana Michigan Power, the South Bend Education Foundation presented the checks to the teachers in a surprise fashion during class on Thursday.
“The teachers have been working extremely hard as they always do, but this year it’s just so nice to see them receive the wishes and the grants that they applied for. That is going directly back to the students, so we really appreciate AEP and the ED foundation,” said Amanda Choinacky, Principal of Madison Steam Academy.
The $5,000 grant will help the teachers bring supplemental lighting, specialized headphones and new books into their classrooms.
