Three students charged for armed robbery at Benton Harbor High School

Three students were arrested at Benton Harbor High School on Tuesday for allegedly robbing another student with a BB Gun for cash.

17-year-old Kadarian Ervin and 17-year-old Trayvon Porter were arraigned on Wednesday in Berrien County Court as adults.

Ervin and Porter were both charged with one count of felony armed robbery and one count of assault with intent to rob with a weapon.

Judge Gary Bruce said, “It's called assault with attempt to rob while armed! That's a felony, the maximum penalty for that is life in prison.”

Police said the weapon used was a BB gun and it was found in one of the suspect's backpacks.

The third student arrested is 16-years-old and ABC57 will not disclose his identity because he is a minor who will be tried in juvenile court.

A graduate of Benton Harbor High School said this is shocking.

Lakeena Crawford said, “Kids are jealous of other kids so that can be a reason why they do stuff. Kids are real cruel! They don't think before they act... again it goes back to the parents, what is going on?”

Porter and Ervin will be back in court on June 19th and the Judge set their bond at $75,000 cash surety.
