Tiger attacks zoo caretaker

WYNNEWOOD, Okla. -- An Oklahoma zoo caretaker was hospitalized after a tiger attacked her.

It happened on Saturday at the Garold Wayne Interactive Zoological Park in Wynnewood, Oklahoma. The tiger bit the caretaker on the arm, through the cage.

"Her jacket got stuck in the wire, and the tiger beat her to the side of the cage and grabbed her arm and pulled her arm through a four-inch hole," said Joe Schreibvogel, the spokesman for The Garold Wayne Interactive Zoological Park.

The zoo's owner says the tiger will not be put down since the attack was the result of a safety violation.

The internal investigation by the zoo will start once the caretaker is out of surgery and is able to tell officials what happened.
