Cold and snowy, again
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- This week’s frigid temperatures are record breaking for the winter season so far, and while it is clear you want to avoid going outside, for many, you cannot avoid that morning commute! Wednesday morning saw multiple accidents with drivers sliding into one another resulting in some scary situations.
A car in the right lane of traffic lost control and hit a semi-truck in the left lane resulting in a particular terrifying situation with portions of the truck over the bridge. With the latest frigid temperatures paired with light snow fall results in freezing and slick road conditions.
Indiana State Police recommends be aware of your surroundings, slow down on the roads, and as always stay prepared for the worst.
“The frigid temperatures and that little dusting of snow we got just put a slick, icy glaze over the road and especially the bridges,” says Sgt. Ted Bohner, Indiana State Police. “The sense is “it’s not going to happen to me” because I haven’t ran into anybody yet that really planned on being in a bad situation like they ended up in. So just know that the bad things can happen, and plan for them, and then hope that you never have to deal with it.”
