Toyota issues stop-sale for several models with heated seats

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Toyota has issued a stop-sale for several of its models because of an issue with the heated seats.

These models include Avalon, Camry, Corolla, Sienna, Tacoma, and Tundra. The seats don't meet flammability standards.

If you have already purchased a vehicle, it is not being recalled.  Toyota says they are preparing modifications that will fix the troubles.

"When you hit a button for the seat warmer, it's going to send an electronic pulse to the seat warmer itself, once that thing's going and heating up, if they're not calibrated right or not working properly, they may get too hot and start to spark, or if you have a non flame retardant material in the seat, it could be devastating," says Rolan Reddy, a mechanic with R&B Car Company in South Bend.

This is not a recall by Toyota, but a stop-sale, which these cars are pulled off the lot until they are fixed.
