SOUTH BEND, Ind. - South Bend Police say a vehicle crashed into a house in the 4000 block of Addison Street and a 27-year-old Plymouth Man, Chad Heflin, was arrested Thursday evening.
Officials say a call came in at 6:06 p.m. for a traffic stop near Michigan Street and Fairview Avenue. Heflin fled the scene and a pursuit ensued before it was eventually called off near Main Street and Ireland Road.
However, the chase resumed when he was seen disregarding a red light at Ireland Road and Fellows Street.
No injuries were reported in the crash.
The suspect ultimately lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the residence mentioned above. He then fled the vehicle by foot and was found lying down in a nearby shed, covered up by a cardboard box.
Marijuana and other drug paraphernalia were located in his vehicle following the incident.
Heflin was taken to the St. Joseph County Jail, where he received several preliminary charges following the pursuit. He was also arrested for several other unrelated warrants.
His arrest is currently being reviewed by the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office. All people are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
