Trail Creek man accused of methamphetamine possession

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. - A Trail Creek man was arrested for alleged methamphetamine possession during a traffic stop Thursday afternoon, according to the La Porte County Sheriff's Office.

At 2:30 p.m., a sergeant with the sheriff's office met with a St. Joseph County deputy to take possession of a wanted person.

Law enforcement identified 63-year-old Richard Baney as that wanted person during a traffic stop.

During intake searches at the La Porte County Jail, law enforcement allegedly found a bag containing a large amount of a white crystalline substance concealed in Baney's clothes.

Law enforcement found another bag containing a similar white crystalline substance near Baney's groin area, reports said.

Baney was arrested on his warrants and on one count of possession of methamphetamine.

He is being held on no bond at the La Porte County Jail.
