Train cars carrying semi-trailers catch fire in Goshen

GOSHEN, Ind. -- The Goshen Fire Department responded to a call of a train on fire as it went down the tracks near Elkhart Road over the weekend.

Around 10:51 p.m. Saturday, officers were dispatched to the 4500 block of Elkhart Road near train tracks for reports of a train on fire.

When they arrived on the scene, they found two train cars that caught fire, each carrying a UPS semi-trailer. Authorities say the contents of the trailers were described as general merchandise and that Norfolk Southern is still investigating the cause of the fire.

The train was able to stop near 1700 Egbert Ave, where the Goshen fire department was able to extinguish the fire.
