Transpo and The Interurban Trolley expand mobile ticketing program
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Transpo and The Interurban Trolley are expanding their mobile ticketing program to provide more contactless payment options for customers using the Token Transit app.
Beginning Wednesday, riders can purchase Transpo fixed route passes, Access passes, and Interurban Trolley passes using the Token Transit app.
Transpo riders will be able to buy Day, Two-Week, and 31-Day passes, as well as Access 2-Ride and 10-Ride passes using the app.
Interurban Trolley riders will be able to buy One Ride, One Day, 14-Day, and 31-Day passes and Access One-Ride and 10-Ride passes with the app.
Mobile passes bought through Token Transit are the same price as regular paper passes.
Token Transit passes can also be sent to another person’s smartphone at the time of purchase.
To use the mobile pass, passengers need to open the app on their smartphone and tap their phone on a Token Transit validator located at the top of each farebox.
Transpo and Interurban Trolley operators may also ask to see the pass themselves.
This mobile ticketing program provides a contactless payment option that reduces the exposure and contact between passengers, operators, and the farebox.
It also streamlines the boarding process.
The expansion is supported by a COVID-19 Research Demonstration Grant the Federal Transit Administration awarded to Transpo following a successful pilot program.
Over 35,000 rides have been given through the Token Transit app since October 2020.
