Transpo, Interurban Trolley survey deadline extended to February 10

The deadline has been extended for residents to fill out a survey on changes to public transportation in St. Joseph and Elkhart counties. Residents have until February 10 to fill out the CONNECT Transit Plan survey.

The CONNECT Transit Plan was released in December by the Michiana Area Council of Governments and the South Bend Public Transportation Corporation.

Within the plan is the Draft Recommendations Report, which lays out two funding scenarios for short-term improvements and future investments in public transportation.

The Short Term Network scenario recommends using the current transit budget to increase ridership and offer better access to transportation.

The Additional Funding Network scenario suggests using new investment in transit to increase ridership.

Both funding scenarios apply to Transpo services in South Bend and Mishawaka and the Interurban Trolley in Elkhart and Goshen.

After surveys are collected, the final report will be presented to the MACOG Policy Board on March 8 and Transpo's Board of Directors on March 20.
