Transpo closes South Street Station's lobby, restrooms due to COVID-19 concerns

SOUTH BEND, Ind.— The South Bend Public Transportation Corporation (Transpo) announced Friday that it will close the South Street Station’s lobby and restrooms in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19.

The closure will go into effect on Monday, March 30.

Passengers using Transpo will be able to wait for buses using the exterior bus shelters and are being asked to practice social distancing.

In-person sales will not be available at South Street Station because of the closure.

Day passes will be available to purchase on board all buses for $3. Exact cash fare is required and drivers cannot provide change.

The Greyhound ticket booth will remain open and passengers may see the security guard stationed at the main entrance for access.

An information phone line will be available from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on March 30. Starting March 31, the information line will be available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The information line can be reached by calling (574) 233-2131.
