During the shift, the patient's parents discovered 42-year-old Judith Sobol incoherent and their child unresponsive and with her trachea tube disconnected, reports said.
The child later died.
Sobol is on trial for second degree murder.
She allegedly admitted to injecting meth on the day she went to work.
During Tuesday's session, a jury selection and opening arguments were held.
The trial will continue this week.
