Tropical storm Debby batters the Gulf Coast

GULF COAST -- Tropical Storm Debby has residents in the Gulf Coast on alert as she slowly inches toward land.

The tropical storm is about 50 miles from shore but some parts of Florida's panhandle have already had 12 inches of rain.

Rising flood waters have forced residents from their homes near St. Petersburg.

The forecast track for the storm remains tricky. Forecasters say Tampa could get as much as two feet of rain this weekend.
