Truck crashes into Penn-Harris-Madison school bus
ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - A P-H-M school bus carrying Grissom Middle School students on a field trip, was involved in a crash with a truck Thursday morning just after 9:30 a.m.
School officials say two school buses were transporting sixth grade science students to P-H-M’s Digital Video Theater and Planetarium at Bittersweet Elementary Thursday morning, when at approximately 9:34 a.m., one of the buses was struck by a truck exiting U.S. 20 near the intersection of U.S. 20 and Elm Road.
The P-H-M bus driver immediately notified P-H-M Transportation who notified police.
Paramedics arrived on the scene quickly to examine students complaining of injuries.
Officials say there were no cuts or lacerations. Six students were evaluated, and none were transported to the hospital.
All parents and guardians of the injured students were personally notified by Grissom staff, as well as the families of the rest of the students on that bus.
There was no damage to the bus, and it was used to transport students back to Grissom so that parents and guardians could pick up their children.
The second bus not involved in the accident made it safely to the DVT without incident.
