TS Andrea headed towards Florida's west coast

FLORIDA — The first named storm of the 2013 hurricane season is heading toward the west coast of Florida.

Tropical Storm Andrea formed in the Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday. The storm is forecast to bring flooding to the Tampa, Florida area.

Residents along Florida's gulf coast said they are preparing for the storm.

The storm is forecast to head up the eastern seaboard on Friday and Saturday.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected from the mid-Atlantic to New England region.
