Two Cassopolis students selected for Michigan Department of Education Student Advisory Council

CASSOPOLIS, Mich. -- Two Cassopolis school district students have been selected to join the Michigan Department of Education Student Advisory Council (MDE-SAC).

The two applicants, Isabel Kennedy and William Westrate, were chosen along with students across the state to serve on MDE-SAC for the upcoming 2024 - 2025 school year.

Kennedy and Westrate will be responsible for participating in monthly virtual meetings with department leaders including State Superintendent Dr. Michael F. Rice. These meetings will focus around continuing the important work of precious councils.

The Cassopolis students will be given the opportunity to join council workgroups along with an expectation to attend two in-person meetings throughout the school year.

"We congratulate Isabel Kennedy and William Westrate on this significant achievement and look forward to their contributions to the MDE-SAC.," school officials stated.
