ORIGINAL STORY: HENDRICKS COUNTY, Ind. -- An investigation is underway after a domestic disturbance call in central Indiana escalated into an officer-involved shooting and the discovery of a body.
This happened the afternoon of Sunday, May 25, in Hendricks County. The county sheriff's department was called to a home in Danville on a report of a domestic disturbance.
When officers arrived on the scene, a man who was outside the home ran back inside, only to re-emerge with a rifle. He would continue to go in and out of the house as more officers from nearby departments arrived.
State police officials say at one point, the man directly pointed the rifle at officers. Six officers from multiple law enforcement agencies opened fire; the suspect was declared dead at the scene.
Officers found the body of a woman suspected to be a part of the dispute in a grassy area behind the home.
Indiana State Police is leading the investigation.
