Two injured in crash in downtown South Bend

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Two people were injured in a multi vehicle accident in downtown South Bend Tuesday afternoon.

The accident happened at the corner of LaSalle and Lafayette.

Police said a South Bend Code Enforcement truck was hauling an SUV when it crashed into a van.

Two people were taken to Memorial Hospital with neck and back pain.

"As a result of the collision the truck veered off and struck the white vehicle. The Durango came off the bed of the truck and made contact with the blue vehicle which was travelling westbound on LaSalle," said Lieutenant Gene Eyster of the South Bend Police Department.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
